María de la Paz Ortiz Madariaga (1991) is a multidisciplinary graphic artist and student of the Master’s program in Advanced Studies in Art History at the University of Salamanca during the period 2023-2024, in Spain, thanks to a scholarship granted by the
Carolina Foundation. Graduated in Art, her work has stood out for its focus on illustration and graphic narrative, with more than 13 years of trajectory under the pseudonym SAYAE. Initially self-taught, she has explored a wide variety of materials and graphic- plastic techniques, as well as digital, and has exhibited both individually and collectively in Chile, Mexico and France.
Throughout her career, Ortiz Madariaga has achieved important academic and professional milestones. In 2022, she was selected to complete the postgraduate program Diplomado en Educación Artística at the Universidad de O’Higgins in Chile. During 2021, she performed the role of visual arts and technology teacher in secondary level educational institutions in Chile, while completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at UPLA with a thesis entitled “Narrative Architecture of Dreams: Construction of a dream world through transmedia graphic narrative”. In addition, in 2020, he expanded his knowledge by taking a course in graphic narrative at the Royal Drawing School in London.
